Testing Season and How to help your child
Testing season is fast approaching. Here are some ways you can help your child:
- Cultivate a positive mindset.
- Remind him/her that this a chance for them to show what they know or have learned.
- The teachers have prepared them for the test.
- Remind your child to take their time.
- Be sure he/she gets enough sleep the night before the test.
- According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, 6-12 year old students require 9-12 hours of sleep.
- According to the American Acedemy of Pediatrics, 12-18 year old students require 8-10 hours of sleep.
- Be sure he/she gets a great breakfast.
- Fruits: Apples, Blueberries, Avocado
- High Proteins: Eggs, Pecans, Whole Grains, Canadian Bacon, Turkey Bacon, Omelets with vegetables
- Calcium: Milk
- Arrive to school on time.
- Stay hydrated.
- Drink plenty of water.
- AVOID: foods high in sugar, candy, soda, tea, coffee, energy drinks, greasy foods
