Employee Health, Dental, and Life Insurance Coverage 

Overview: The Concordia R-2 School District (the “District”) employs approximately 80 certified and classified employees, of which 75 are eligible to enroll in group health benefits. The District is seeking proposals from qualified insurance consortiums, insurance providers, and insurance brokers to provide comprehensive health, vision,  dental, and life insurance coverage to eligible employees. In addition, supplemental insurance may also be considered as part of this ITB. The goal is to offer a competitive, cost-effective health plan that meets the needs of our staff and complies with all applicable federal and state regulations, as described in this ITB and on the District’s website located at www.concordia.k12.mo.us. 

Qualified insurance consortiums, insurance providers, and insurance brokers are invited to submit a formal bid to be reviewed by the District’s Board of Education.  For more information  regarding the bid requirements, scope of coverage, and services requested by the District, use this link to access the ITB document.

Federal Shutdown Impacts

As you may know, the federal government activated a shutdown on October 1 (start of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026).  The government will open when the annual appropriation bills pass or a continuing resolution goes into effect.

How does the government shutdown impact the National School Lunch Program?

• Child Nutrition Programs like SNAP are facing funding uncertainty.  Missouri will no longer be approving new applications for SNAP benefits in November.  More information can be found  Missouri Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)  
• Many Federal employees are without income and may now qualify for free or reduced-price meals.  The Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application must always be available for households to apply at any time!  Income changes, furlough and other challenges may occur, and meal benefits help ensure the student has access to a meal.  Our application can be found at: Food Service Application or from either school office.
• Food service programs including the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, USDA Foods, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable are expected to continue operating during this short-term shutdown.  The future impact depends largely on how long the shutdown last.
• Reminder, schools should encourage families impacted by the shutdown to complete a meal application to apply for free or reduced-price meals.

Unless a student qualifies for Free or Reduced meals, 2025-26 meal prices are as follows:

Breakfast: PK-6 $2.15; 7-12 $2.30; Adult $3.00
Lunch: PK-6 $2.70; 7-8 $2.80; 9-12 $ 2.90; Adult $4.00
Those Qualifying for Reduced Prices: $0.30 for breakfast and $0.40 for lunch
Extra Milk/Juice Prices: $0.50

Each family is asked to file a Free/Reduced Meal Application form. The district follows the USDA Eligibility Guidelines to determine Free/Reduced students.

You may also fill out the application online through the Parent Portal in TeacherEase. Login to your account, scroll over to Miscellaneous, and choose the application.
