Planning to Play College Athletics?

If you hope to compete in college athletics, it is important to start planning early. Student-athletes who are interested in playing at the NCAA Division I, II, or III or NAIA level should register with the appropriate eligibility center and work closely with their school counselor, coaches, and family throughout high school.

NCAA Eligibility Center

The NCAA Eligibility Center determines whether students meet the academic and amateurism requirements to compete in NCAA Division I or Division II athletics.

Click here to register with the NCAA Eligibility Center.

Students planning to compete at the Division III level should check directly with the colleges they are interested in, as Division III schools manage eligibility differently than Divisions I and II.

NAIA Eligibility Center

Students interested in competing at an NAIA college or university must register with the NAIA Eligibility Center. The eligibility process includes reviewing academic records and athletic participation to determine eligibility.

Click here to register with the NAIA Eligibility Center.

When Should I Register?

It is recommended that student-athletes create their NCAA and/or NAIA accounts during their junior year, preferably by winter break. Registering early allows college coaches to review your academic information during the recruiting process and helps keep your options open.

Request that your high school counselor send your official transcript directly to the Eligibility Center. Please register with the Eligibility Center before requesting that your transcripts be sent, so they can be matched to your account.

If you have questions about NCAA or NAIA eligibility, course planning, or the college recruiting process, please contact Ms. Buzzanga.
